Statement
During a work break. In the corner of a desk. Under the title “Zoe and Logos,” I once again asked myself what kind of expression the painter Hiroto Sano expects from me.
What picture did you want to see? Suddenly, the keywords that had stuck in my mind – “majesty” and “divine” – began to emerge from beneath the dust.
Search for the meaning of the word. Solemn, magnificent, splendid.
So what does “solemn” mean? A stately and solemn appearance. Imposing. Majestic.
So what is the “brilliance” that is connected to divinity? Glittering and beautiful.
As I go about my daily life, I aspire to create paintings that blend into that everyday life. That’s not a bad thing. Isn’t it precisely from our everyday lives that we find love?
So what can art do? What can I create in the miniature garden that I create with my own hands?
“I always end up forgetting important things.” – The opening words of the 2011 solo exhibition. I picked up the book and opened it up to see the records of the past.
Isn’t that okay? Even if there is a sanctuary inside the work. Even if it’s a delusion. What makes you decide that “you” ran away?
“I” have to protect the timid “you”.
It’s okay. Life is a jumble of scary and fun things.
That’s why let’s leave the passage between you and me with solemnity.
That’s what my work can do.

Statement
I base my work on the concepts of “space” and “support theory.”
Ma is used in a variety of ways to express the physical distance or empty space between things, the time gap (rhythm or tempo) between two consecutive things, and a spiritual connection, such as the regulation of communication between hearts.
My use of “ma” includes all of these elements and refers in a holistic sense to something that “synchronizes you with the subject” and acts as “something that influences the perceptual awareness of the subject.”
For example, the perceptual recognition of “seeing” is achieved by knowing that “there is an apple in front of me” through the light that travels back and forth between the object and itself.
“Maai” means that an entity with agency (me) feels this through concrete, physical actions that recognize and attempt to control the “ma.”
The philosophy that considers the “existence of something that synchronizes” mentioned above is my “support theory.” A support is something like the material of a painting, such as paper or a panel.
At the same time, it can be said to exist as something that synchronizes (allows the viewer to understand) the essence of art (the invisible).
The theory of supports states that from a macro perspective, everything – people, things, worldly phenomena, and souls – exists in a provisional state as a support, while from a micro perspective, everything exists perfectly in its true state.
